In this tutorial we are
going to look at how we can add a single Process Menu Option to a User’s
Menu. So starting with this
view of the Action File Maintenance in Fixed Asset Register for Data Manager,
we notice that on row 4 I have access
to the Asset Master. |
So
now that Access has been removed and I am going to Save this record. |
Now
in the Asset Application I am going to choose File Maintenance and try to
open this Option called Asset Master. |
And the system refuses
because I do not have Access to this Option. Notice that the system
is also telling me that usually this Option is found on the Menu path of
Asset Register, File Maintenance, Asset Master. But I do not have access
to it at the moment. So I cannot open this
Option. |
Now
I am going back to the User Profiles Application and I am going to add this
Option onto my Menu. |
And
I do not have to go to the Business Module level, nor to the Action level,
because when I specified the path where I want to include the Option, then
the system will automatically insert the Application and the Action if they
are not yet on my menu. |
So
I specify the User code that I want
to record access for. |
And
I specify the Business Module or the Application and note, that though I am
using the Key, “at” here, for Assets (the Application), I can also just type
something like “Asset” for the system
to retrieve it for me if I do not know the Application code. |
And likewise for the
Action Menu, I am typing “fm” because I know the code for
File Maintenance. If I just type “file” or “maint”
then the system will retrieve the appropriate code for me. |
And now I add the
Option, “atmast”, onto this Menu
where it is not present at the moment. |
And I am simply adding
it at the bottom i.e. by
“appending”. The order is not
important. The system is going to sort it anyway. |
And
now I Save the latest Menu. |
And now, in Assets
again, I am going to try again to open this particular Option. |
And
of course, now it works, because this Option is now available on my Menu. |
We
will now take another look at the User Access Profiles at the Option path
that is being provided. |
And notice the option
for the Asset Master is now sitting at row 4. So it is included on the
Menu and that is why it is working and why I can open that option. |
And
we have a look at the Action Level. |
And we notice the File
Maintenance Action at row 5. Now of course I also
have other options in File Maintenance and that is why it was already
present. But if this was the 1st
option, added on my Menu for File Maintenance, then the system would have
inserted this Action here, automatically, when I defined it as a path at the
Option level. So there would be no
need to come to this level to insert the Action. |
And the same principle
applies for the Business Module or Application access itself, which we see
here in row 15, Fixed Asset Register. Of course it was already
there, because I have other Options in the Fixed Asset Register Application
already. But if it was not there,
i.e. if it was the very 1st Option added, at the Option level,
then the system would have inserted the Fixed Asset Register Application
here. There is no need, when
we add a single Option, to come to the Business Module level, to insert
anything there. That will be done
automatically. |
So to add a single
Option, or a number of Options, one by one, onto a User Profile, we will
simply come to these Capture Methods and choose the Options Level. Specify the User Code,
the Business Module and Action, where we want to add one or more Options. Then we add the Options
and we Save it. Now when would we do
this? For Non Logon Users i.e.
the Profiles that we use in Profile Subscription when we want to add Options
to those Menus. We would do it in this
manner. And for Users where we do not
use Profiles Subscription. Or they are on Profiles
Plus, and they need additional Options that are not on the Profiles that they subscribe to. Then in that case we can
also put it on the User’s Menu, in this manner. |
