In
this tutorial we are going to define what Profile Subscription means in the
Access Profile Management in IES. |
So
if I choose an option |
|
Like
Maintain User… |
|
|
and
I recall a current User on the system, and I go to the Profiles tab … |
Now
this particular user is on Profiles Plus.
It could also be on Profiles Only. |
|
Right,
so if it is Profiles Only, then the only menu access that this User will have
would be the profiles that we list under Profiles Subscribed to. |
|
If
we choose Profiles Plus…. |
then
it means that the User will have all the access for Profiles Subscribed To plus
may have other options in addition. |
But
Profiles are simply other user codes.
Now these can be real users or can be only non-logon users. That is determined by your policy. The
best practice really is that the Profiles Subscribed to will usually be
non-logon users. In other words we
create users that will not use the system. They
are not real users, but they have menus and they have Access Profiles. In other words, options that they can
perform. And then by subscribing another user to one
or more of these Profiles then automatically this User will have all the
options that those Profiles include. |
|
So,
for example if I go here and I choose Alert
to recall that particular Profile….. |
|
|
.Alerter
Administrator…. and I call up this one… |
|
|
|
IES
Developer… - Now I have two Profiles here. So if I should now choose the option
Generate Profile Access…. |
|
The
system will now go and look at all the options that are included in the
Profiles listed for this User and will include them as Menu Options for this
particular User. |
|
|
|
So
that is what Profile Subscription means. |
So what if there is some
overlap of some options between the 1st Profile indicated here and
the 2nd Profile indicated here? |
|
Well it does not
matter. What Profile Subscription
means, in effect, is that when the Profile access is generated, then all
options found in all die Profiles listed will be given to this User. But anything will be
given only once. So once a certain
option has already been applied for this User, from a certain Profile, and if
it is encountered in another Profile, it is not given again because it is
already there. But certainly the User
will have all options that are found with all the profiles listed. So those are the basics
of Profile Subscription. In another tutorial we
discuss further how we manage Profile Subscription. |
